Outreach Ministry

March, 2010

Today we are at War and no one seems to know. This very hour our men and women are on the front lines, risking their lives for the most righteous cause. There was no news of it on the TV last night. No yellow ribbons hung in remembrance of their plight. Few of us know who their family members are. Even fewer pray for their safety. Rare is the letter that is sent.” Serving as Senders

As I was asking God to help me with this newsletter, I came across the above quote. The World Wide Outreach Servants are our extended hands and feet of Jesus. Some of our World Wide Servants are serving in places that put them in harms way and their lives could be in danger just because they are Christians. Many of you have heard much about Haiti on the news over the pass few months, but how many of you are aware that we have three of our World Wide Outreach Servants working in the effort to help restore Haiti? Melinda Nelson is leading a Prayer/Relief team. Miriam Frederick of World Harvest Missions has been in Haiti for over 30 years, built and maintained the New Life Children’s Home, is in the process of building a hospital. Edgard Louissaint, one of our long time members, has returned to Haiti to help establish elementary schools, churches and shelters for needy children and homeless people. We are not all called to leave our homes and go on the mission field but we can all be a part of the mission field. I love the way Charles Stanley puts it, “Not everyone can make the trip and perform the duties of an astronaut, but ask any astronaut and he or she will stress the importance of an alert support staff at mission control. Likewise, those who stay behind and daily lift up missionaries in prayer, through personal encouragement, and through financial support serve as the silent partners in the mission objective. It is a joint effort.” Now why do I tell you all of this?….because Easter is around the bend and our World Wide Outreach and Local Ministries Outreach is supported by three offerings a year Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Outreach Team is asking you to be in prayer on how God is calling you to give during this Easter Season. Carolyn Yockey does a fantastic job of staying in touch with each of our World Wide Servants including her sister and brother-in-law Scott, and Kathy Murphy. If you would like to know how to send a card or email to one of our World Wide Servants, be sure to let us know and we will gladly share that with you.
The Team is still excited about the new turn God has given us in reaching out with a way of building relationships. The baby steps are a bit wobbly but growing each step along the way. We are just bursting with joy at the way C.O. Taylor Elementary is allowing us to encourage the teachers.
The Team voted last month to begin a Bible Study together which will begin this month. We have chosen the Romans 12 study that goes along with Living on the Edge. I have to tell you it is wonderful to be a part of a team that is willing to stay an additional hour to grow together. Maybe God is pulling on your heart to step out and join us on the new journey in Outreach. We meet the first Tuesday of each month in the educational building room D at 7p.m. Come and join us.

Our Vision Statement

We are a people who desire to know Christ in His fullness. Vie passionately want to bring Jesus to those who do not know Him through acts of love, service, and healing so that the love of God will be made known to all.

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I Am The Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Outreach Mission Statement

The great mission of the church is to show love, learn, and live in order to call men and women to Jesus Christ. As sinners are forgiven and are transformed from death to light, God is glorified through that gracious miracle. Christ came into the world that He loved and sought to win sinners to Himself for the Father's glory. The believer who desires to glorify God, who wants to honor. God's supreme will and purpose,; must share God's love for the lost world and join in His mission to redeem the lost to Himself. Our mission as individuals and as the church is the same mission as that of the Father and of the Son. "As thou didst send me into the world," Jesus said to His Father, "I also have sent them into the world." (John 17:18)

If you are interested in becoming a part of the Outreach Ministry team, con tact Malcolm (Gator) Spaulding at the church at 965-4311, extension 230. There is always a job that is perfect for you whether it is behind the scenes or in the front lines knocking door to door. We need you. God needs your hands, feet and mouth to work for Him. The community needs you to let them know that Jesus loves them. Please join us!!!!

What is Outreach?

Outreach Evangelism is being accomplished through what can be best described as "Acts of Kindness". These occur when the Outreach Ministry team goes into the surrounding community to bring Christ to the people. They perform different "acts" that show the love of Christ through the actions of his people. In all of these functions, the main thing is to show the love of God to the people who are being ministered to. This ministry also provides the team a chance to invite community people to worship services and other events at the church and to survey the needs of the community for future outreach.
