ABC’s of Healthy Snacks and Lunches for Children

We know that sometimes it can be hard to think of good things for your child to eat at school each day.  Snacks and lunches should be healthy foods that do not require refrigeration or reheating. Please do not pack candy, soda or other “sugary”items for your child.  Here are a some ideas that will promote good eating habits and give your child that nutrition they need to grow and develop.

Applesauce

Bananas

Celery with peanut butter or cream cheese

Dry cereal

English muffin pizza

Fruit cups

Graham crackers with peanut butter

Honey mustard with pretzels

Individual pudding or jello cups

Juice boxes– 100% juice, please!

Kiwi, strawberries and cream cheese on a bagel

Lettuce salad in a pita pocket

Marshmallows, peanuts and raisins mixed together

Neatly rolled meat with cheese slice

Orange slices

Popcorn

Quick trail mix

Rice cakes

String cheese

Tortillas with peanut butter and jelly

Unbelievably simple– cheese and crackers

Vegetables cut in kid sized bites

Water– a great choice anytime
